iPod Touch App - Controlling M1001

In the interium, you can use a poor mans method, I use my Nintendo DS with a WiFi card to access my local network at my house and enter the Soundbridge's IP address followed with "/SoundBridgeNP.html" and I can controll and access some stuff. The address is case sensitive BTW.

e.g. http://192.168.36.244/SoundBridgeNP.html

damn u need a mac to run the developer tools, anyone have a free mac they could lend me? let us know how u get on ebariaux, im hoping its a fairly simple job if u can use rpc commands

I've managed to get hold of a mac and have been making a player. Just wanted to query the people who would be interested what music servers do they use. I have a firefly here, which is what I used to develop the app. I hope to get the app to the app store by next week, so please reply quickly guys!

How about Itunes

can u open up command prompt/terminal, connect to your device using:

telnet IPADDRESS 5555

then type in: ListServers

look at results and see which one itunes comes up in the list (starting at row 0)

then type in: ServerConnect ROWNUMBER

then type: ServerGetCapabilities

Can you then write the results you get here please.



Eg: for my setup I get: (Restart ur device and leave it on standby)

-> roku: ready
ListServers
-> MusicServer (my firefly server)
-> InternetRadio
-> FMRadio
-> AMRadio
ServerConnect 0

First off, many thanks for taking on this task. An Iphone/Ipod touch would be fantastic.

I vote for Firefly as the first music server target for the app. I know many of us are already using it, since it works well with Roku. For those not already taking advantage of Firefly, it doesn't seem to be difficult to install and get working (at least it went smoothly for me, as far as I can remember). And there are plenty of posts in these forums should people need help with Firefly.

Good luck. As a programing moron, I'm always amazed by what people can develop.

I've just submitted the app to apple so hopefully it will find its way onto the app store sometime soon (just released it with firefly atm)

Haven't we deviated from the original request?

The O/P was talking about an iPhone application that could be used to control an M1001; the soundbridge would be playing the music, you'd just be using the iPhone as a remote control, making a SoundBridge + iPhone very similar to a Sonos system.

It seems to me that chris5287 is working on an app that will stream music to an iPhone - that's a different thing entirely.

Just to be clear, it is a remote, not a player, as first requested (Called the app RokuRemote) although a streaming firefly player does sound kinda cool app to make. Sorry if I confused people. I have tested it on iPod Touch (its what I got) but there is no reason why it wont work on iPhone as it just uses ur home wifi where the M1001 etc... are attached. I have put a fee (think it was the £1.79) as I had to pay the $99 apple developer fee and would like to get some of that back, so hope this sounds reasonable (Plus the hours of work i've put in . Also, once people have the app im very happy to try and add any features I may have missed in updates so its only a one-off charge.
