What you need to do is get set up with a Napster account, and make sure you have the latest Windows Media Player installed on your PC.

There's a setting in WMP for which online store you want to use.

Download any Napster content that you want to listen to using Windows Media Player. (I'd recommend starting with a couple of tracks to just get everything working).

Set up Windows Media Player for sharing, and then your SoundBridge will be able to connect to your PC and play the content that's in your WMP library, including the Napster DRM content.

Napster in the UK doesn't offer an on-line store for WMP11. I have read that some people have been able to use the old Napster WMP9 plug-in client with WMP11, but I have tried everything without any success.

That doesn't matter though, you can still use the standalone Napster client and play any downloaded tracks on your soundbridge using WMP11 as your server. Alternatively, if you have WMP10, you can use the Napster plug-in client and Windows Media Connect as your server to play downloaded Napster tracks.

What you can't do is stream tracks from Napster onto your Roku. Whatever server you use has to have the track on hand to be able to serve it up.

Cannot play WMAs anymore!?

Postby AquaLume » Wed Feb 27, 2008 6:29 am

Hi guys!

I wonder why, but since I have reinstalled my windows I cannot play the WMAs I downloaded from Napster anymore on the SoundBridge. I know that the DRM settings have changed due to the new Windows, so the last time I did this I had to let the WMP run through all downloaded songs to regain the Napster license. Now I wanted to take a shorter way so I just redownloaded all my Napster songs based on my new DRM setting.

WMP11 now surely plays all of these songs with absolute no problem, it's only the SoundBridge that sees the files but does not seem to be able to get the license. How can this be? It worked for me from the first day I had the SoundBridge, why not anymore now?

I am on Win XP Media Center, got an AVM FritzBox 7170 with FritzDSL and FritzDSL Protect running and Kaspersky Internet Security 7. And just to add this, I never had problems with exactly this configuration before!

:(

Would anyone of you be so nice and help me? Thank you very much.

Can play WMAs again

I'm sorry for making the most common mistake by not using the search function of the forum before writing my question.

In doing so finally I found several ways to try - so I tried and it worked, so no help is needed anymore here.

If anyone has the same problem like I had:

A. Try Removing and Adding back monitored folders
1. Open windows media player
2. Go to Library
3. Remove the folders that Windows Media is watching for content
4. Quit WMP11
5. Re-open WMP11, and add your music folders back

B. Try Moving your library
This should reset the permissions for the content.
1. Create a new folder
2. Move your content out of its current folder
3. Then, move your content back into the correct folder

C. Try removing music from library only. Then importing again.
1. Open windows media player
2. Go to Library
3. Remove all tracks from the library, only the library.
4. Quit WMP11
5. Re-open WMP11, and add your music folders back
