Ok I have noticed that Amazon VOD is all set up for registering the player, but I have not noticed the Amazon VOD screen on the player. Was wondering if it is just me or if the change has not yet been made. :?:

i dont think it's for anyone yet. that's what the OP was pointing out. amazon has a registration area for the Roku box, but the box still hasn't been updated for Amazon VOD.

Actually the screenshots show that this is showing up on Roku boxes. In addition, the Amazon beta mentions that if the VOD doesn't show up yet, wait a few hours.

This could be related to the call for beta testers from RokuKen I believe it was. However, I had assumed previous beta users are still beta users and would part of this roll out, too.

Not necessarily. Those could easily be PhotoShopped in preparation for the launch. Or they could be taken from a demo box that was given to Amazon loaded with unreleased firmware for testing. There has been no mention of the VOD update being released to anyone either here or in the beta forum. Nothing in this thread in any way proves that there is a box outside of Roku or Amazon's control running VOD.

That said, hopefully this is an indication that VOD and possibly YouTube are coming in the very near future.

Am I the only one who sees absolutely ZERO appeal to YouTube on my TV? Why? There is NOTHING there. It's just stupid videos that people email. Sure, funny, but I get them via email links or embedded in web pages, neither of which are conducive to a set top box.

Can someone please explain to me the value of YouTube on a set top box? It makes no sense on Apple TV (I've used it 3 times) and it makes no sense on Roku.

Wouldn't you think it more likely that the Amazon beta for VOD on Roku and these images signify that beta testing of VOD is beginning? As for nothing showing up, generally the early beta test does not show up in this forum.

PS You could be right, but I'm hoping that this does signify the release of VOD for beta testing.

If nothing else, we'll now have another channel to test against when we're having problems.

Uh, can you say, "Free to use, or not use"

Personally, I was happy to see it because I'm hoping this is one step closer to Hulu.

They are some education clips. My teacher last semester had us watch some chips (for my online class) and write about them.

Well, I feel sheepish. You're most likely right, and I'm most likely wrong. Guess, I was anxious to try out the service.

However, it doesn't hurt to sign up for the beta per RokuKen. The VOD does need to be beta tested before rollout, I imagine.
