Compatible with a minor change....
Actiontec Q1000- Router Gateway provided by Qwest is compatible but make sure that under security settings WPA type is set to "WPA orWPA2 Personal". My Q1000 had a default set to WPA2.
Enjoying the "little black box."

I have a Belkin FD9231-4 v2 wireless router, that SORT OF works with the Roku player. When it works, it works, for a few hours, but at least once per day the router crashes, locks up and the Roku signal is lost. Only a soft or hard reset of the router will recover the connection. I found posts about this problem in other forums, but I wish I had known the issue before I bought it. I plan to trade up to a reliable part.

My wireless connection is via a Westell Model 327W router that I got with my Verizon 7GB DSL account a couple years ago.
Router and Roku HD box are communicating just fine about 15 feet apart in seperate rooms. Roku Settings/Network says the signal strength is "excellent".
Program load times are reasonably quick, usually around 7-15 seconds before the program starts playing.

I have a 2Wire 2701HG-B which is standard issue WiFi router for AT&T and it works just fine with my Roku HD.
Thanks,
Kevin

I have a westell model A90=750015-07 modem router. ROKU can find my network, but won't connect to it. What does the message mean when it says to make sure my router security settings are compatible with the Player settings? How do I know what the security settings are?

No issues with the D-Link DIR-825 dual band (2.4 and 5 ) I have a Hawking HWREN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender that works great too! I have 5 laptops, xbox live, 2 BDLive DVD players, and DirecTV HD-DVRs running off of that wireless system. I also have 2 Buffalo wireless to wired units working and all work great so far -- even with the streaming with the Roksbox channel....
Running Roku XR HD wireless too...

Edit:
Well, had some wi-fi issues and had to do some updates. Not using wi-fi in XR...
To much to re-type:

I get three green lights during the setup, but I am unable to get past the "Update Software". The progress never gets past 0%.

KB3OPS, are you trying to perform the software update with a wireless connection? Perhaps your signal is marginal for the software update. You could try connecting wired to perform the update. My Verizon-supplied Actiontec MI424-WR works flawlessly with my two Roku HD boxes, both on wireless connections. Including software updates, but then they're both within 20 feet of the router.

I am using a Linksys model WRT150N home router with two Roku players, an HD (wired) and an HD/XR (wireless) and everything works fine. I am posting this because the Linksys WRT150N is not presently on the list of compatible routers. I also must say that I greatly enjoy using the Roku players with Netflix, Pandora, etc.

I have successfully used both NETGEAR WGR614 v6 and NETGEAR WNR3500L Gigabit-N routers in wireless mode with my ROKU Soundbridge and ROKU XR-HD Video player.

Heck my PS3, Wii, two laptops, wireless printer, and desktop all share it with no qualms. It lacks advanced features like a usable QoS and reports, but if you want a plug it up and never look back you can't ask for a better deal. Don't use the software, just go to it's IP and set it up that way. I recommend that with all routers and most other IP configurable devices though

I have just connected a Roku HD-XR unit to my Westell 327 wireless network. This is my second Roku player in the house, however the first unit was the regular player not the HD model. The installation however was not plug and play this time. The new unit would not find the local network at all. Roku tech support and I worked on this on two separate phone calls but it was of no use. The new unit and the Westell were literally 6 inches apart and would not communicate. They sent a replacement and same result! I brought the old unit into this same room and it fired right up! So having experience having been a software/hardware support dork in the past I started my own research as to the software on my Westell 327 and found this web address:
http://www.verizon.net/central/vzc.port ... rsaLinkFix - that list upgrades by model number (according to the tag on the bottom of your unit) and followed the instructions for applying the upgrade. It was very straight forward and not difficult at all. As soon as it was finished I reset the new Roku unit again and it immediately connected to the router, the local network, and the internet, performed it's own upgrade and I have not had a problem since watching two different movies and surfing the net at the same time. This was great because I did not want to add a separate router or hub to my wired mess. Also I had already received a replacement unit and was about to return it for a third at this point.
