Compatible Wireless Routers and Access Points

Postby RokuRyan » Wed Jun 11, 2008 2:43 pm

A listing of tested wireless routers and access points for the Netflix Player by Roku can be found on our compatible wifi page (http://www.roku.com/netflixplayer/support/wifi.php).

Do you have a wireless router or access point that works with the Netflix Player by Roku and would like to add it to our comaptible wifi page (http://www.roku.com/netflixplayer/support/wifi.php)? Post your device's manufacturer, model number, and name here.

Your web page currently lists this router:

F5D8231-4 Wireless N1 Router

There are 5 distinct firmware revisions to this router; V1xxx, V2xxx, V3xxx, V4xxx, and V5xxx. Unless you've tested all 5 successfully, you should list which versions are Roku-tested.

My own personal recent experience with V3xxx indicates that the latest beta firmware, 3.10.15, should be used.

Netflix Player by Roku is working fine with my Netgear WGR614v5 Wireless router.

Update: I need to select the option "Disable SPI Firewall" in order to keep a reliable connection with the Roku box.

I'm running the Linksys WRT54G router, the Roku player recognized the router and set it up within minutes.

Right now I have DSL running 760mb and the picture is surprising good even on a 60" Sony, in a couple of days I'll be on 4gb broadband.

So far I'm loving the "Little Black Box"

The Actiontec MI424-WR (provided by Verizon with FiOS installations) works fine.

I'm using the Linksys WRT160N. It always shows four dots, and I have never lost the connection.

Mine works only half the time with my Netgear WGR614v6. Once connected works great but has problem getting connected. I'm using WPA and have not been able to connect for about 3 days. Had to go wired. Other than that, this player rocks.

Does anyone know what wireless chipset the Roku uses?

The player seems to work with these routers:

La Fonera (FON2200) with firmware 0.7.1.5
WRT54GL v1.1 with Tomato firmware 1.19.1463
Netgear WGR614v9 with firmware V1.0.15_4.0.3NA
Zytel P-660R-ELNK firmware V3.40

The Netgear is a WiFi router, but it's not operating as such with no Wan line pluged in with DHCP turned off so assignments are sent from the Zytel listed.

I'm happy to report that my player is working with my ancient Microsoft MN-700 wireless router. At first the player was failing at the "connect to local network" step, but after connecting the player directly to my modem to allow it to upgrade its firmware, it was able to connect through the router without a problem.

The MN-700 (no longer supported) has what I believe was Microsoft's last firmware release, 2.2.0.731.
